Strong, steadfast, determined, and talented: adult words that are the essence of my grandmother of 53 years, Clara Jencik. As a young child growing up, I knew her as a devoted and loving grandma who provided so many wonderful family memories including Sunday dinners, backyard picnics, home movie showings as well as countless Christmases and Thanksgiving celebrations. I can also recall so many Sunday services at St. Peter's, watching and listening intently to her beautiful voice as a member of the church choir. Music was special to her and without her constant support and encouragement, I would never have experienced the joy of learning to play the piano; a gift that is immeasurable. We were all so fortunate to have her in our lives as long as we did and she will be missed.
