Obituary of John Peter DeRosa
John Peter DeRosa, age 36, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2016. Born in Plainfield, John was a lifelong resident of Watchung.
John graduated from Bayberry Elementary School, Valley View Middle School in Watchung and Immaculata High School in Bridgewater. He attended Montclair State University where he received his BA, John continued his education receiving his Master's Degree from Rutgers University. John was a high school English teacher in Essex County until 2014. He then became a real estate agent with Berkshire Hathaway in Watchung. John was the former owner of the Pitching Factory in Fairfield.
In his spare time he enjoyed films, music, coaching softball and cooking. John enjoyed traveling to Aruba and loved spending time at the family summer home in Lavallette, NJ.
John enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and his loyal companion Sadie.
Surviving are his parents Peter DeRosa and Patricia Kalman; his brother Stephen and his wife Shubh DeRosa; grandmother Maria Kalman; Uncle George and Aunt Karen. Several other Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, from 3-8 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Stony Hill Church, Watchung. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains, NJ.
