Obituary of Laura Marshall Portee

Laura Marshall Portee, age 57, died on Sunday, November 27, 2016, at Overlook Medical Center in Summit. Born in Berea, Ohio she had resided in Flushing, NY, Fort Lee, Keasbey and for many years in North Plainfield, NJ. Laura was a graduate of the Chubb Institute and received her BS from the University of the State of New York. During her professional career Laura worked in the banking, real estate and computer programming industries. Since 2007, Laura had enjoyed staying at home and caring for her daughters and husband. Laura was a member of Parents in Prayer at Timothy Christian School, Rutgers Community Christian Church, Bible Study Fellowship, NJ Lighthouse Society and the First Baptist Church of Metuchen. In her spare time she enjoyed Bible Study, crafting, lighthouses and was an avid reader, she was especially good at keeping everything organized. Predeceased by her father Lloyd Boardman Marshall and her brother Robert Marshall. Survived by her husband Michael Portee, her daughters Willow Portee and Ivy Portee; her mother Patricia Kihn Marshall and her sister Valerie Emmelhainz. A visitation will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung, NJ. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Cremation is private.
