It was a pleasure to get to know Glenn over the two decades that I knew him. My father George and uncle Karl played alongside him in the Long Hill String Band. Glenn's Appalachain mountain dulcimer was the most interesting instrument in the band. Glenn will be missed!! My thoughts and prayers are with the Gundersen family.

I remember Glenn as a quietly friendly man, ready with a broad smile, and someone who loved his mountain dulcimer, which suited his character very well. He was faithful to the Long Hill String Band and must have been pleased when people asked about his dulcimer and he could play its gentle strings for them. His soul must have rejoiced in the outdoors, especially when paddling along on a river or lake. He was a kind man who lent his support to others, including through the Grange, DVR radio station, and even personally to a family friend and meteorologist who has a spot on DVR.
May Glenn be in peace and know from above that we remember him with great fondness and gratitude for the light he brought others.

The Long Hill String Band will truly miss Glenn. He joined our band about 18 years ago playing the Appalachian Mountain Dulcimer.
We have very fond memories of our playing for large crowds from outdoor festivals to performances and dances where invariably people would approach him asking what he was playing. Glenn finally relented and bought a shirt with the words I am “Playing an Appalachian Mountain Dulcimer”.
Glenn enjoyed playing Old Time music which suited his instrument. It was developed in the Appalachian Mountain region by settlers from Europe. They brought along their memories of tunes and instruments from which the roots of Old Time and Bluegrass originated.
Glenn was our most dependable band member, we could always depend on him being available and on time.
Glenn, farewell and we will always remember the sound of strumming of sweet haunting melodies of your Appalachian Mountain Dulcimer, when we are playing outdoors.

Glenn laughing in the light of our campfire, September 2016. This was the last time I paddled and camped with Glenn. Always a good pal to have along on canoe camping outings - a good camper, good paddler, and good friend. We'll miss you, Glenn.

This photo was taken several years ago at the beginning of a canoe trip through the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Glenn was in his element during this wilderness trip. The further our group got from civilization the more at ease he became. RIP Glenn
