Literally in tears right now, this is a sad day for me. Dr
Pitter delivered my daughter In 2008. I was a diabetic, he helped me keep my numbers down so that I can deliver a healthy baby. I just suffered a miscarriage right before that, Dr. Pitter assured me that if I did exactly what he instructed that I would have a healthy baby. He was right , I delivered a healthy baby girl, and Dr. Pitter was there to help me get through the delivery. I will never forget what he did for my daughter and I. May he rest peacefully in heaven. My condolences to his family.

I recently found out I was pregnant and I was looking up a way to contact Dr. Pitter as he delivered my first two children. I’m completely saddened to have come across this obituary, Dr. Pitter was not only an amazing Dr., he was a wonderful man. I was 17 when I got pregnant with my first son and Dr.Pitter helped me get through that pregnancy and delivery. He was a very kind man and I always felt like my baby and I were in good hands (which we were). When I got pregnant with my second son there was no question that he would again be the one helping me through it! I’m very heart broken it won’t be the case this time around. My condolences to his family. Dr. Pitter was such a blessing!

Wow, I was just looking through my e-mails to send Dr. P a greeting and did a fb search and this news came up. I am so heart broken to hear this news. My heart goes out to his family and friends. The world has lost a great doctor and an even greater human being.
Dr. P saved mines and my daughter's life in 2005 at Beth Israel, I believe that without him and his hard work, dedication and selfless care that we would not be here today. Every year on my daughter's birthday I reflect on Dr. P and this year I was going to send him some updated pictures and was thinking let me find him on facebook.
Sleep in peace Dr. P, you will always be a big miss and to your family, please know that Dr. P was an earth angel and touched many hearts!
Forever grateful,
Bilal and Deidre Shakir of Bermuda

It is with great sadness that I'm just now learning of the death of my GYN, Dr. Pitter.
To his family, hold on to those beautiful memories of your beloved husband, father, grand-father, and father-in-law.
He performed my surgery in December, 2004 when I resided in Newark, New Jersey. He was the most gentlest GYN I have ever experienced. In 2008, I moved to Austell, Ga. and in 2015 I was fortunate to relocate back to my beloved British Virgin Islands where I now call home again.
Pitter family, may God continue to give you strength to go on as you remember those happy moments with him.

My sincere condoleances to the family. Doctor Pitter was a great man with a big heart and very passionate for the medical field that he mastered deeply. If it weren't for him I woudn't have my 2 sons neither being alive today. When I gave birth to my little one I lost all my blood due to a percreta he did everything to bring me back to life. He spent all night calling to find out if the blood(o-) had arrived. The nurses were amazed to see how much he cared about his patients. The world had lost a great man and I am very verY sad for your lost AND OURS. Please accept my sympathies. May he rest in peace.

I went looking up Dr. Pitter's contact info to recommend him to my friend in need of surgery, and am so shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. In 2010, the surgery he performed on me changed my life. Importantly, I knew I had made the right choice with him when, during my intake at Hackensack Hospital, every single nurse absolutely lit up with a big smile when he or she read Dr. Pitter's name on my chart: "oh, you have Dr. Pitter! He is a wonderful surgeon and a great man". Rest In Peace, Dr. Pitter, you are missed.

My deepest condolences to the Pitter family. I became a patient of Dr. Pitter's somehow by luck after a long arduous search for a new gyn. I was immediately touched by his pleasant demeanor during my first office visit, his evidence-based approach to my case, and the gentle but confident way in which he reassured me I would be fine. His warm disposition throughout my op/post-op course was unparalleled by any MD I have seen, and as a fellow physician I truly appreciated that. It was only after referring two friends who attempted to see Dr. Pitter recently that I became aware of his untimely passing. Condolences may perhaps seem odd coming from a former patient, but I felt compelled to say this as he had such a major impact on my life that I felt I had to. I was able to resume basic lifestyle activities because of Dr. Pitter, and I regret that others will not have that experience. I feel truly fortunate to have been his patient, and in the short time I interacted with him it became evident very quickly just what a wonderful person he was. Please do take comfort in the fact that he certainly touched the lives of many, and my thoughts and prayers are with your family.

My PA and I discovered just today of Dr Pitter's passing. I cried when I heard this. I am so indebted to Dr Pitter. We have lost such a true virtuoso of the robot. We were first generation surgeons and it was he himself who guided us through our training. We were up against so much as the first robot surgeons. It was a lesson in Medicine's ignorant times. Dr Pitter was the fairy godfather who nurtured us and truly opened our eyes with his effortless surgeries. He reviewed our cases , gave us encouragement and was just so kind in everything he said to us. When I was the lead robot surgeon at my hospital and I told him we were starting a program I emailed him. He remembered me and was generous in his compliments. It is just such a loss. I watched the memory video and it was as one would expect. One sees family love and happiness. Thankyou for sharing him with us. My deepest condolences and will keep you in my prayers

Please accept my sincere condolences. I have taken comfort knowing that God . . . will wipe all tears from their eyes, and there will be no more death, suffering, crying, or pain.”—Revelation 21:3, 4 The Bible, however, holds out a much different hope. God, who started mankind off in a lovely garden, has promised to restore Paradise on this earth under the rule of His heavenly Kingdom in the hands of the now glorified Jesus Christ. ( Matthew 6:10; “ Let your kingdom come. He will always be "Mikie" to me. Irma, my heart goes out to you and the family. Time and distance can never diminish our friendship, because Mikie and I shared so much in those critical school years. From training and running on the same track team, including some winning relay teams, to spending time at each other's homes, to going out to parties together, through the early college years when written letters and the odd expensive long-distance phone call were the best means of communication across the miles (Florida to Chicago), our friendship remained a constant. His was a brilliant mind, with a curiosity about life and people. Reading about Mikie's work in non-invasive robotic surgery, just fits with his intellect and curiosity.
Irma, JoAnne, and Mike Jr., I am privileged to have called Michael my friend, and offer you my ongoing friendship.

Dear Family, I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your loved one. My sincere condolences to you. May you think of the many beautiful memories that you shared with Dr. Michael, and cherish those precious moments. May the God of all comfort caress your heart with his living promise to one day reunite you together again in the future paradise mentioned at Revelation 21: 4,5. Our Dear Heavenly Father Jehovah (Psalms 83:18 )knows the many tears you cry and he will sustain you if you let him. I was thinking of you and hoping that you can find comfort during this difficult time.

Dr. Pitter was a highly skilled and compassionate doctor. He provided his patients with an unparalleled level of care. He was a great man. His passing is not only a tremendous loss to the medical community but to the world. Dr. Pitter delivered my son and during the course of care we came to endear him like family. Our hearts and prayers go out to his entire family. May God bless you always.
