Obituary of Charles Dilts
Charles H. Dilts (Teet), age 93 passed away on February 19, 2017, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Somerset in Somerville.
Charles grew up in North Plainfield. He served in the Army from 1943 to 1945. He was a staff sergeant serving with General Patton's 3rd Army and landed on Normandy Beach. As a young man, Charles worked with his father at the Central Jersey Railroad. He later owned and operated 2 gas stations before starting a career at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center as a pipefitter foreman for over 35 years.
He married his sweetheart Eleanor M. Hoffman in August of 1945, and they lived in Warren. Eleanor passed away in 1988. Charles was also predeceased by his brother Louis and sisters Patricia and Dorothy.
Charles leaves behind 3 daughters, Helen Gunn (Fred), Judith Gunn (Ed), Sandra Forner (Curt); 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother Walter Dilts and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung. A funeral services will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home followed by interment at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
