Obituary of Anthony Francis Addario

Anthony F. Addario Watchung: Anthony F. Addario, age 85, died on Friday, April 7th at his home. He was born and raised in Plainfield and lived in Watchung for over 55 years. Mr. Addario received his Bachelor's Degree in Marketing from Seton Hall University in 1954. He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. He was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant. Mr. Addario had a long career with Grand Union Supermarkets and retired as Personnel Director. He served as the Mayor of Watchung from 1992 to 2002. He had twenty three years of elected service on the Borough Council. He served on the Planning Board and the Green Brook Flood Control Board and was an Honorary Member of the Fire Dept. Mr. Addario enjoyed politics, his shore house and loved being busy and active. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Andreasen Addario; his son, Thomas Anthony Addario; his brother, Chase Addario; his sister, Mary Cooper and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. A visitation will be held on Monday, April, 10, 2017 from 4 to 8 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Stony Hill Church. Entombment will be at St. Mary's Stony Hill Cemetery.
