Obituary of John J. Weinschenk

John J. Weinschenk Warren: John J. Weinschenk, age 97, died on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at his home in Warren. He was born in Newark and grew up in Irvington and lived in Warren for the past 66 years. Mr. Weinschenk served in the Army Air Force during World War II. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Weinschenk worked for many years at Western Electric. He was a Communicant of Our Lady of the Mount Church. Mr. Weinschenk was a Homing Pigeon enthusiast, having over 100 pigeons at one time. He loved cooking for his family, especially his German specialties and stuffing. Mr. Weinschenk is predeceased by his wife, Ellen M. Weinschenk. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 19, 2017 from 4 to 8 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung. Funeral services will begin on Saturday at 9:30 am at the funeral home followed by an 11 am graveside service at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, Basking Ridge. Surviving are his sons, Richard (Marlene), Jack (Jill), Lawrence (Michelin), Thomas, Robert (Deborah), and James; his daughter, Nancy; his grandchildren, Jamie (Lisa Marie), Jennifer (Josh), Erica, Ryan (Christine), Lindsay ( Adam ), Courtney (Brian), Amy (Jonathan), Caitlin, Cassandra, Ben, Alyssa (Jonathan) and Tommy; and 12 great-grandchildren.
