Obituary of Stanley Martin Bernstein

Stanley Martin Bernstein, age 85, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2013 at his home in Fanwood. Born in New York, Stanley was raised in Plainfield and had lived in Westfield and South Orange, most recently residing in Fanwood. Stanley was the former owner of the Surprise Store in Plainfield for over 50 years. Mr. Bernstein was a former member of the Green Brook Country Club and was an avid golfer. He is predeceased by his brother, Jack Bernstein. Surviving are his beloved wife of 60 years, Babs; his children, Doug Bernstein and Dede Kotler; his sister, Judy Peres; his grandchildren, Jennifer Trupchak, Brooke Bernstein, Harry Bernstein, Margot Kotler and Max Kotler; and great-granddaughter, Charlotte Trupchak. A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Higgins Home For Funerals, Watchung.
