Obituary of Catherine V. Horan

Watchung: Catherine V. Horan, age 104, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2017, at Morristown Memorial Hospital. Born in Trenton, NJ to William A. Horan and Cora (Sheetz) Horan, Ms. Horan resided in Atlantic City NJ, Cumberland MD, Washington DC and Middletown NJ. During World War II, Ms. Horan moved to Washington, DC where she used her secretarial skills working for the federal government. During her 40 year career on Capitol Hill she was an Administrative Assistant to several congressmen. After her initial retirement, she was called back to service by Samuel Stratton, a congressman from NY. Once Ms. Horan finally retired, she volunteered at Mt. St. Mary's in Watchung, NJ. where her sister M. Karen Horan, RSM resides. Ms. Horan loved reading, doing crossword puzzles and following politics. She was a Mercy Associate for the Sisters of Mercy. She is predeceased by her parents, William and Cora Horan, her step mother, Catherine Horan, a brother, William J. Horan and a sister, Mary Virginia Horan. She is survived by her sister, M. Karen Horan, RSM of Watchung, NJ. Visitation will take place at McAuley Hall Health Center on Wednesday , June 28, 2017 from 9:00 to 11:00am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Cemetary, Trenton, NJ Memorial contributions may be made to Sisters of Mercy Mid-Atlantic Community, 1645 Highway 22 Watchung, NJ 07069.
