Patricia McCreesh Reilly
Patricia McCreesh Reilly, 79, passed away peacefully at her home on July 11th, 2017. Patricia was born in 1938 in the Bronx, NY and lived most of her life in Plainfield, New Jersey. In 1956, she graduated from Plainfield High school. After high school Patricia enjoyed success playing for the Marauders, a women's travel softball team where she travelled the US and Puerto Rico playing in numerous tournaments. Patricia was married for 43 years to her husband Joseph and they had two children. As a parishioner of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in North Plainfield, she served as a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She was also an active member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) where she served as Deputy Grand Marshall in 1978 for the Newark St. Patrick's Day parade. Patricia received her 4th degree as a member of the AOH in addition to travelling to Ireland and Europe with her parents and sister, Maureen for various conventions. She is predeceased by her husband Joseph Reilly, her parents Mary and Bernard McCreesh, and her brother Thomas McCreesh.
She worked for 27 years as a Special Ed Assistant in the Plainfield Public Schools. After retiring in 2000 and the passing of her husband Joseph in 2008 she joined her daughter's family in Northern Virginia where she lived there until her passing. She loved spending time with her grandchildren who were her pride and joy.
Pat is survived by her children Kelly Reilly Faircloth and Donald Reilly, her grandchildren Gehrig and Shannon, her sisters Gail Skidmore, Karen Bailey, Maureen Washington and her brothers Brian McCreesh, Terry McCreesh, Bernie McCreesh and sister-in law Joan McCreesh.
Pat loved watching and supporting her favorite sports teams the New York Yankees, the New York Giants and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. One of her greatest pastimes was attending baseball games at Yankee Stadium with family and friends. She also treasured vacations with her family at the Jersey Shore.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 16th from 4 to 7 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals , 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung. Funeral services will begin on Monday at 9 am at the funeral home followed by a 10 am Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's R.C. Church in North Plainfield. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery.
