Obituary of Joan B. Devlin

Joan B. (Pearson) Devlin, age 82, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2017, at her home in Warren. Born in Long Branch, she was raised in Sea Bright and has resided in Warren for many years.

 

Joan was the Valedictorian of the Long Branch High School Class of 1953. She worked as a secretary and office manager before opening her own secretarial service business. She published a trade magazine called "The Contractor" and was also the executive director of a remodeling trade organization "NARI".

 

After retirement she enjoyed touring the country in a motor home with her husband. Joan loved spending time with her family and will be missed.

 

Survived by her loving husband of 62 years George Devlin; children Donald Devlin and his wife Marlene, Steven Devlin and his wife Lynda, Linda Piffer and her husband Louis and Thomas Devlin; 5 grandchildren Valerie Powers and her husband Grant, Vanessa Lee and her husband Isaac, Daniel Devlin, Hannah Devlin and Julia Piffer; 1 great-granddaughter Amelia Rose Powers and her sisters Diane Cross of Rumson and Mary Johnston of Middletown.

 

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2017, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A graveside service will take place on Friday, August 25, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery,
