Obituary of Dorothy P. Malenchek

Dorothy (Dottie) Malenchek, age 92, passed away on Saturday August 26, 2017 at her home at the Chelsea in Warren. Born in Brooklyn, Dorothy had resided in Long Island and Pennsylvania for many years before moving to Warren eight years ago. After marrying her teenage sweetheart Johnny in 1942, Dorothy spent many years as a devoted and caring wife and loving mother of five children. Later in life, Dorothy enjoyed antiquing with her husband John during her career as an office manager. After their retirement, they turned that passion into an antique business, buying and selling antiques in Pennsylvania. Dorothy was an avid reader and enjoyed playing Scrabble and doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She also loved to knit and sew. She is predeceased by her husband John Malenchek, a son Steven and a daughter Janet Egan. Dorothy is survived by a son John and his wife Jessy, two daughters Lynn Evelyn and Diane Trampler and her husband Ed. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 1-4 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069. Donations may be made in loving memory to The Salvation Army.
