Obituary of Ward L. Gordner, Jr.
Ward L. Gordner, Jr., age 66, died on Sunday, September 17, 2017, at his home in Warren. Born in Perth Amboy, he grew up in Summit and moved to Warren in 1985.
Ward served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Ward attended Rutgers University majoring in several different subjects. He owned and operated an electrical contracting company in Warren for many years. He always liked working with his hands and early on was a mechanic and tube maker.
Ward was a talented potter who, in his spare time, enjoyed boating, skiing, studying history, weight lifting and working on his antique Hemi charger.
Predeceased by his father Ward L. Gordner.
Survived by his wife Mathilda (Munier) Gordner ; daughter Chrisjenna (Gordner) Monahan and her husband Michael; granddaughters Brigid and Fiona; his mother Lauretta (Harvey) Gordner; brother Thomas Gordner and his wife Shirley; sisters Laurie Green and her husband Jonathan and Nannette Kalani and her husband Sanjeev; and his beloved golden retriever Rocky. Ward leaves behind an unending network of extended family and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 5-9 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 10 a.m. followed by interment at St. Teresa's Cemetery, Summit.
