Obituary of Margaret A. Cogger
Margaret Del Papa Cogger, 92, passed away on October 5th, 2017 in Morristown, NJ.
Margaret was born in Plainfield, NJ on December 11th, 1924 to the late Serafino and Guidita Del Papa. She was the youngest of 8 children and was proud of her Italian heritage as a first generation American. She is a graduate of Plainfield High School. Married in 1948 she and her husband William moved to North Brothers Island and Brooklyn NY while he attended the Columbia School of Medicine. Margaret worked at Western Electric before moving to North Plainfield, NJ to raise a family. She volunteered for many years at the Nearly New shop affiliated with Muhlenberg hospital in Plainfield, NJ. In 1963 she and her family moved to Millington, NJ where they resided for many years .During this time she worked in retail for Sears and Roebuck and Lobels in Morristown, NJ. She was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Roman Catholic church. Margaret's passion for Antiques is well known. She spent much of her later years pursuing her passion both as a vocation and a business.
She is a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She had a special place in her heart for all animals, especially her dog, Evie. Margaret, known as "Maggie" came from a big family and loved to spend time with her many siblings and her nieces and nephews. Family was her joy in life. She spent her final 12 years living with her daughter and son in law in Green Brook, NJ.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband William A. Cogger MD and her beloved sisters and brother. She is survived by her three children; William A Cogger and wife Marie of Chester, NJ, Jeffrey Cogger and wife Janet of Vergennes, VT, and Jacqueline Elicker and husband Bradley of Green Brook, NJ. In addition, she is remembered with love by her grandchildren; Matthew Elicker and Samantha Elicker of Green Brook, NJ, Jessica Vlasak of Readington, NJ, Caitlin O'Leary of Chester, NJ, Stephanie Cogger of Vergennes, VT, Kelli Cogger of Ferrisburg, VT, and Corinne Cogger of Anchorage, AK; as well as her 5 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Thursday October 12th from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at Higgins Funeral home in Warren, NJ. Funeral will take place on Friday, October 13th beginning at 9am at Higgins Funeral Home with a 10am mass at St. Vincent De Paul church in Stirling, NJ followed by interment at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains, NJ.
