Obituary of Josephine Garrison
Warren: Josephine L. "JoLee" Garrison, age 78, passed away on Monday,
November 20, 2017 at Foothill Acres Rehab and Nursing Center in Hillsborough.
JoLee is now in peace after a tough battle of recent series of illnesses. Born in
Paterson, to her parents Leona and Frank Esposito. JoLee was an exceptional
student and Class President of Roselle High School, after she graduated with
honors, she became a certified X-Ray Technician. JoLee had a lifelong career of
caring for others working in private practices as an X-Ray Tech, Nursing Assistant
and on the local Rescue Squad for close to 50 years.
JoLee married her husband of 59 years, Jerry in 1958. JoLee and Jerry lived in
Fanwood NJ until they moved to Warren NJ in 1974.
JoLee is survived by her husband, son and daughter in-law Gary and Alison
Garrison of Scarborough Maine, her daughter Glee Hobbs of Canton Georgia.
Jolee is also survived by her four grandchildren; Alexis Garrison of Portland Maine,
Jurien Garrison of New York City NY, and Tyler and Aiden Hobbs of Canton
Georgia. She was also loved by her siblings, many cousins, nieces, nephews and
as many great nieces and nephews.
JoLee will be remembered for her zest of life and service to others. Jolee was a
Charter member of the Scotch Plains Players where she used her theatrical talents
and ability to produce several shows on stage. When moving to Warren JoLee
became a member of the Warren Township Rescue Squad. JoLee served as a
volunteer for 35 years, in many officer and administration capacities and was a
recognized as a distinguished Life Member. JoLee taught EMT training at Raritan
Valley Community College for 10 years and also served on the Warren Township
Board of Health for over 10 years. Over her lifetime, JoLee received many
achievement and recognition awards for her volunteerism.
In retirement, JoLee and Jerry traveled and enjoyed life and each other to the
fullest. JoLee was proudest when spending cherished time with her children and
grandchildren while visiting family during the holidays and vacationing in Florida -
she loved Walt Disney World! JoLee enjoyed summer vacations with her family on
Longwood Lake in Jefferson NJ where she and her husband have owned a family
cabin since 1964. JoLee was not only a great Mom to her children, and Mae Mo to
her grandchildren, but she was also a great "Mom" to all the German Shepard's
she owned over the years.
The family would like to thank JoLee's Doctors and Nurses and Foot Hill Acres for
the care she received. JoLee will be sorely missed but never forgotten.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 3-5 p.m. and
Saturday November 25, 2017 from 1-3 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 3 p.m.
at Higgins Home for Funerals 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. Cremation is
private.
