Obituary of Rani Chatterjee
Rani Chatterjee passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017 at the age of 89. She was the widow of the late Dr. Khagendra Nath Chatterjee, a prominent physician and member of the Bengali community in New Jersey and at large.
Ranidi, as she was fondly called, was born in Kerala, India, and was trained as a nurse. She met her husband in Calcutta and they had been married for 57 years at the time of his death in January, 2009. She was the ever supportive spouse, dedicated mother and devoted grandmother to Chris and Eric. She enjoyed travel and entertaining friends and family. She had a quiet presence that we will miss.
Rani is survived by her daughter, Meeta Chatterjee and her husband, Jeff Gardner; her son, Anjan Chatterjee and his wife, Lisa Santer; and her grandchildren, Christopher and Eric Gardner.
Ranidi will be cremated on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, 95 Mount Airy Road, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920; a brief Puja ceremony will start at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in her honor to Penn Memory Center, University of Pennsylvania Health System (http://pennmemorycenter.org/gifts/).
The Sraddha ceremony will be held on January 3, 2018 at Ananda Mandir, 269 Cedar Grove Ln, Somerset, NJ 08873.
