Obituary of Martha M. Cozzoli

Martha M. Cozzoli (nee Warholak) age 98, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018 in Somerville, New Jersey, surrounded by her loving family. She leaves behind three daughters, Joan M. Rooney and husband Tom of Annandale, New Jersey; Carol A. Zmuda and husband Henry of Gainesville, Florida; and Sister Mary Grace, FSGM, of Alton, Illinois; nine grandchildren (Joanna, Elizabeth, Nancy, Michael, Kristopher, Timothy, Seann, Joseph and Mary Grace); eleven great-grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews. Her husband, Joseph M. Cozzoli, and her son Frank J. Cozzoli predeceased her. Born and raised in Jessup, PA, Martha was the youngest of twelve children born to John and Anna (Mudry) Warholak. After graduating from Jessup High School with lots of school spirit, she went on to work in a five & dime and a department store. During World War II, she worked at Franklin Arsenal in Philadelphia where she was a supervisor overseeing the production and inspection of hand grenade time fuses--- proudly keeping our troops safe during wartime. She later worked as a secretary for Boetefuer Decorating where she became acquainted with the priest who would later officiate her marriage. Martha met her husband Joseph at a family wedding she was invited to attend by her best friend (and sister-in-law) Betty. Joe immediately fell in love with Martha's poise, elegance and charm. The two were married a short year later and remained very much in love during their 57 years of marriage. Martha was the perfect homemaker, supporting and enabling her husband and family to run Cozzoli Machine Company. Martha was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cozzoli Machine Company since 2010 and a former shareholder. Mrs. Cozzoli had resided in Plainfield for 6 years, North Plainfield for 20 years, and in Warren for 30 years before moving to Somerset in 2003. She was a devout Catholic and member of St. Joseph RC Church in Hillsborough at the time of her death; a former member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jessup, PA; St. Joseph's RC Church in North Plainfield and St. Mary's Stony Hill Church in Watchung. Martha enjoyed entertaining and hosting parties at her perfectly kept home. She loved spending time with her family and friends, to whom she passed along many traditions and who always called upon her for counsel, guidance and support. She will be greatly missed by all. The visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung, NJ. Funeral services will begin at 9:00 am at the funeral home followed by a 10:30 am funeral mass at St. Joseph RC Church in Hillsborough. The interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her loving memory to the Mother of Good Counsel Home, 6825 Natural Bridge Road, St. Louis, Missouri 63121 or to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation/BCRF.org.
