Obituary of Joseph G. Blumetti

North Plainfield: Joseph Blumetti, age 70, passed away following a long illness on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ. Born and raised in Summit, he had lived in North Plainfield for the past 45 years. Joseph was a scholar who graduated from Raritan Valley Community College with an associate's degree in English. He was a former restauranteur. Joseph was self-employed as a Classical Guitar Instructor and performer for over 55 years. He was recently employed by the French School of Music in Plainfield. He was an accomplished composer, avid reader, artist, loved building and restoring guitars, dog lover, cooking, fishing and loved and respected all of nature. Survived by his sisters Geraldine Ruhl and Roseanne Gargiulo and her husband Mario; nephews Christopher Wesley, Raymond Mark Wesley, and Jeffrey Wesley; niece Laura Vitullo and his beloved dog Crayne. He was most loved by his students and protégées and many close friends, he will be deeply missed by all. A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2018 from 2-5 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung, NJ with a 5:00 p.m. service. Entombment will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. Teresa's Cemetery, Summit, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Humans Society.
