Ellen Cusick Turner
Ellen Cusick Turner, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington. She was born in Scranton, PA and moved to North Plainfield in her childhood. Ellen resided there until 1990 when she moved to South Plainfield.
Ellen was a career employee of NJ Bell where she was an iconic presence who held many titles, including, manager, recruiter, trainer, telephone operator and proud union leader.
Ellen had a strong faith and was a Communicant of St. Joseph's Church in North Plainfield where she sang and taught CCD.
Ellen was an actress, professional singer and Past President of her beloved Parish Players Theater Group in Plainfield. She was extremely involved in local Community Theater and also performed off-off Broadway. Ellen had an extreme love of music; believing that it was the universal language. Ellen was very well known and respected in the community due to her magnetic and larger than life personality.
She is predeceased by her siblings, Michael Cusick and Kathleen Cusick.
Surviving are her children, Mary Lyons, Mike Lyons and Dan Turner; her siblings, Mary Katona, Tommy Cusick and her twin brother, Joseph Cusick. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Phoebe, Vanessa, Mikey and John Henry, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung. Funeral services will begin on Monday at 9:00 AM at the funeral home followed by a 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Church. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
