Obituary of Howard Graef

Howard Graef, aged 89, passed away on Friday March 9, 2018 at University Hospital in Newark NJ. Born in Bayonne NJ, Howard had resided in Plainfield and North Plainfield before moving to Watchung over 50 years ago. Howard proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict as a paratrooper. Prior to his retirement Howard worked as a union carpenter having been a 69 year member of Local # 155 in Plainfield. He was an avid reader and enjoyed working with his hands. He is predeceased by his mother Katherine Graef and his two sisters Katherine Saglimbene and May Vactor. Surviving is his nephew William Vactor and his loving companion of over 30 years Theresa Falconeri. A visitation will be held on Friday March 16, 2018 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ followed by a prayer service at 11 a.m. The interment will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains NJ.
