Robert (Bob-Bob) Newman
Robert Newman, age 86 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital at Somerset. He was born and raised in Newark and also lived in Irvington, Menlo Park Terrace and Toms River before moving to Brandywine Assisted Living at Mountain Ridge in Watchung in 2015.
Mr. Newman proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953.
He was a machine operator and jeweler for Engelhard Industries in Carteret from 1960 to 1973. He then started his own company, Nu-Way Painting in Menlo Park Terrace that he operated until retiring in 1994.
Mr. Newman enjoyed vacations with his extended family of sister and brother in laws and their children at the Jersey Shore. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren's activities and events. Bob Bob was a very competitive bowler and billiards player. He enjoyed playing poker and craps on his weekly trips to "AC" with his wife Angie. Robert was also an avid baseball fan who never quite forgave the NY (Baseball) Giants for relocating to San Francisco in 1957.
He is predeceased by his wife Angelina (Angie) in 2012.
Surviving are his daughter Janice Staugaitis and her husband, Tom; his grandchildren, granddaughter Stefanie Hollywood and her husband, Rob and grandson Tommy Staugaitis.
