Nancy Luisi

Obituary of Nancy Maria Luisi

Nancy Maria Luisi (nee Palocce) was born in Raritan, New Jersey on July 15, 1926 to Ernest and Katherine (nee Sena) Palocce.  Nancy and her parents moved to North Plainfield when she was three years old, where she grew up and graduated from North Plainfield High School in 1944.  Nancy began sewing her own clothes when she was ten years old.  After graduation she became a milliner, sewing hats for fashionable ladies in the metropolitan area.  She then taught sewing at FabricLand before becoming a full-time doll maker and teacher of doll making at the adult schools in Bound Brook, North Plainfield and Watchung Hills Regional High School.  For years Nancy also wrote poetry and has had several of her poems published in the Plainfield Courier News and books such as American Poetry Anthology (1986) and The International Library of Poetry (2006).  In addition, she was an excellent painter in the watercolor medium.

Nancy was predeceased by her parents and her ex-husband, Joseph C. Luisi.  A devoted mother to her children, she is survived by her three sons, Joseph of Palm Springs, California; Richard (Janet) of Marietta, Georgia; and Thomas (Nelly) of The Philippines; grandsons Joseph August Luisi and David Groves Luisi, and a granddaughter; as well as her three sisters, Gloria Esolda, Katherine Palocce, and Linda Dorsi (Bob), and several nieces and nephews.

Nancy will be laid to rest next to her parents at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield.
