I met Joe in the mid-80’s as a young engineer. As President then of AstroLab he took on the challenge to modify precision connectors for a custom made cal-kit that was being designed for a special application that many said could not be done. Its unique performance provided a lifetime of respect and admiration to AstroLab as the go-to custom manufacturer shop. I recall the big smile, the expression, “young man what can I do for you that you’d like to invent”, the endearment of confidence and excitement of cannot be done challenges that he was enthusiastic to take on. I will miss him so. In sympathy, Mendez

My thoughts and prayers to the family. I only knew Mr. Toma for a short time since I joined Astrolab in 2012. He always had a smile and made us laugh when he came for his bi-monthly visits to the office. A group of us were just remarking last week how we missed him and hadn't seen him in a while. Rest in peace Mr. Toma. You are and will be missed by all who knew you.

I grew up with Joe in Franklin and we were good friends. We were both at Seton Hall at the same time, although didn't know it. Thanks to the Seton Hall magazine we again connected a few year ago and enjoyed visiting with him whenever we visited in NJ. He was probably the most successful graduate of Franklin High School.
Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. He and the family will be in our prayers.
