Obituary of Frances Hess

Frances A. Hess, age 97, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at the NJ Eastern Star Nursing Home in Bridgewater. She was born in New York and lived most of her life in Plainfield. Recently she moved to Warren to live with her daughter.

Prior to her retirement, she worked as a secretary for over 23 years at Plainfield High School.

Mrs. Hess was a former Communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Plainfield.

She loved to read, crochet, knit and cook but most of all, she loved to care for her children, grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Her family was everything to her. She loved gathering everyone together for Sunday dinners, birthdays and holiday celebrations.

Mrs. Hess is predeceased by her husband, Walter Hess and her son-in-law, Don Travis.

Surviving are her son, Bob Hess and his wife, Roberta; her daughters, Gail Travis and Pat Ugarte and her husband, Danny; her grandchildren, Ronnie, Todd and his wife, Debbie, Kari and her husband, James, Courtney and Ryan and her great-grandchildren, Lauren, Jessica, Nicholas, Christopher, Matthew, Alyssa, Ashley and Michael. She is also survived by many loving family and friends.

Funeral services are private and under the direction of Higgins Home for Funerals, Watchung.
