Obituary of Ingeborg Freehauf
Ingeborg Yukiko Freehauf was born in Omori, Japan in 1927. She was raised in Japan by her parents, Kurt & Johanna Meissner, who were German citizens. Mrs. Freehauf met her husband, Frank R. Freehauf, at the end of World War 2 in Japan. Inge and Frank were married in Omori in 1946. They remained in Japan for eight years, where they raised their three eldest children. The Freehauf family left Japan in 1954 and took residence in Frank’s home town of Warren, N.J., where their family grew with the addition of two more children. Mrs. Freehauf was a long time, active member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church in Warren, N.J. Due to her strong faith in God, Mrs. Freehauf taught a “Good News Club” for fourteen years in the Warren community. Inge was employed for many years in the health care industry.
Mrs. Freehauf is survived by her brother, Wolfgang Meissner of Germany, five children, ten grandchildren, sixteen great- grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She will be greatly missed by her children, Ralph Freehauf of Alabama, Heidi Taylor of Maryland, Lesley Ellerbusch of New Jersey, Kurt Freehauf of New Jersey, Sherry Waldron of New York, and their spouses; her grandchildren, Craig Freehauf of Tennessee, Sonya Philips of Alabama, Kristen Dargis & Inga Wildes of Maryland, Lauren Havener of Virginia, Danyl Ellerbusch of New Jersey, Ben Ellerbusch of Maine, and Justus Waldron, Micah Guenther, and Johanna Waldron, all of New York. Donations in Inge Freehauf’s memory can be sent to Mt. Bethel Baptist Church, directed to “Missions.”
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Higgins Home For Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church, Warren, NJ. Interment will follow at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Warren, NJ.
