John Carl’s family: I'm so sorry for your loss. I went through a similar situation and I was very helped by the hope that I found in the Bible in John 5:28, which says, "Do not amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I am sending you a link with more information on this hope.

My heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of John. I am so sorry for your loss. May you find comfort through the loving and happy memories that you share and those that you keep close to your hearts. May you also look to our loving Heavenly Father, the GOD of all comfort, to provide what you need at this very sad time. (2 Corinthians 1:3,4, Psalms 83:18). He promises us that very soon, "He will wipe every tear from our eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Revelation 21:3,4, Isaiah 33:24. He also promises us that there will be a resurrection of our loved ones that we have lost in death, and they will have the opportunity to live forever in perfect health in Paradise right here on earth. (John 5:28,29, Psalms 37:10,11). What wonderful promises! Can you imagine a time on earth when there will be no more sickness, pain or death? May all of God's promises give you a measure of comfort, peace, hope and strength. I personally found very comforting information on jw.org. when I experienced the loss of my parents and siblings.

John was very witty and always enjoyed living in the present moment. I enjoyed talking and learning about boxing from him as well as his time in the war. His paintings are beautiful, covering so many different subjects, and will live on forever. His family is wonderful, taking their cue from his persona, and I'm lucky to have known him.

Uncle John was a totally amazing man. He like my dad Hal (Aunt Dottys brother) we’re part of the greatest generation. That’s not a statement but a fact. Uncle John answered the call to stop tyranny without hesitation. But that was only 1 part of his life.
I always enjoyed visiting Uncle John and Aunt Dotty. He inspired me to be the best I could be!! Not by words but by his actions. I will forever love the art that he gave to me and will hand it down to my family.
My sincerest condolences for the loss of a truly Wonderful man.

Uncle John Bulthuis was and always will be my favorite uncle. My memories of Uncle John are endless. He was a man of wit, talent, and endless love. Holidays were always filled with warmth and laughter as we joined together at the table. My favorite memory is a Thanksgiving in Patterson. The kids were all upstairs having the best of times when we heard the adults laughing more merrily than we were accustomed to. Jan and I went to the heat grate to listen more intently and just giggled along with them. At dinner, Uncle John announced that he was going to give an "Indian" grace. I can't remember the whole of it but the ending was priceless as he said: "and let us thankum for our food." Poor Aunt Dot was furious with him but boy oh boy, the kids thought he was the best! Sending you all our love and prayers as you mourn the loss of your husband, dad, and grandfather. He was a beautiful man inside and out and I feel blessed to have known him.

My husband and I would like to give our condolences to John’s wife and family for the loss of such a strong and an amazing man. It was a pleasure and a honor to have been neighbors and friends with John (and his beautiful wife Dottie). Rest well my friend.
