Scarlett Olivia McClain Bradley Batchelor

Scarlett died peacefully at the Abingdon Care and Rehabilitation Center, after a long illness from complications of Multiple Sclerosis. Her devoted husband of nearly 30 years was by her side.

Scarlett was born September 5,1951 to the late  Clay T. and Gloria (Wynn) McClain in Nashville, Tenn.  She was blessed with a daughter, Elanna Francesca Bradley.

Scarlett graduated from Southeast High School in Kansas City, Missouri.  She continued her education at Spelman College and The Art Institute of Fashion and Technology in Atlanta.  She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management and Marketing  from Rutgers University, New Jersey.

She loved fashion and design. She was well known for her sense of style and elegance. She was recognized early on as "Best Dressed" and as campus queen at Southeast High School and at Spelman College. Her passion for fashion and design extended throughout her life and career. She was an accomplished model and stylist.

Scarlett was a prolific reader and enjoyed shopping, cooking, long drives and caring for her poodles.  She was known to be graceful, elegant and always kind.  Scarlett loved spending time with her husband Fred and her family.

Early in her career, Mrs. Bradley-Batchelor worked in marketing at Coca-Cola Corporate in Atlanta. Later moving to Morristown, NJ she began working at Ebon Services in Newark and she retired as Ebon's Director of Operations after many dedicated years.      

Her favorite travel destinations were the Caribbean Islands.

Totally devoted to her family, Scarlett leaves to mourn : her husband, Fred (Jim) Batchelor, her daughter, Elanna F. Bradley (San Francisco, California), sister, Lisa McClain ( Kansas City, MO), brothers, Thomas McClain (Kansas City, MO), Foster McClain (Birmingham, AL) and Clay T. McClain (Louisburg, NC), step-children, Cerrone Batchelor and Shanel (Batchelor) Hobson, mother-in-law, Shirley (Batchelor) Bigams (Palm Coast, FL) and a host of of family and friends.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 from 11-12 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ.  A memorial service will be held at 12 noon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in  Mrs. Scarlett Olivia Bradley-Batchelor’s name to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of New Jersey.
