Obituary of Peter Louis Vanechanos
Peter Louis Vanechanos, age 90, passed away on Saturday March 16, 2019 at his home in Warren surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bayonne to the late Penelope(nee Nicholas) and Louis Vanechanos, Peter resided in Jersey City and Basking Ridge before moving to Warren two years ago to be close to his daughter.
Peter received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Jersey City State College. He also proudly served in the Army National Guard for seven years from 1948 to 1955.
Peter worked for many years as a teacher in Jersey City before he retired.
He enjoyed classical music, gardening and was an avid reader.
Peter is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Eleni (Dimakis) Vanechanos; a daughter Demi Esposito and her husband Richard; two sons Louis Vanechanos and his wife Maria Alicia and George Vanechanos and his wife Anna and a brother George Vanech. He is also survived by six grandchildren Peter E., Christopher, Peter G., Mina, Richard III and Eleni.
He is predeceased by his brother Steven Vanechanos.
A visitation will be on Tuesday March 19, 2019 from 4 to 8 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung NJ 07069. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church 250 Gallows Hill Rd. Westfield, NJ 07090. The entombment will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park Basking Ridge NJ 07920.
