Obituary of Horst J. Preiss

Horst J. Preiss, 84 passed away peacefully at Overlook Hospital in Summit on Friday, April 5, 2019. He was born in Berlin and came to the United States in 1962 and became a naturalized citizen.

He was a union carpenter for many years before starting his own business.

He shared his humor and his love of the outdoors with everyone.
He instilled in us the virtues of individual responsibility which inspired us to take pride in achieving our goals through honest hard work. He will be missed.

He is predeceased by his sister, Ursula.
 
Mr. Preiss is survived by his loving wife, Ingrid of 56 years, three sons, Mark and his wife, Karen, Andreas, and Dirk and his wife, Evelyn and five grandchildren, Tanner, Meghan, Tyler, Emily and Cody and also by his siblings, Hans, Ingeborg, Erika, Hannelore, Margot.

A memorial gathering will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Sunday, April 7th at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069.
