Obituary of Francis J. Helfrich

Francis (Frank) J. Helfrich, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at Overlook Hospital in Summit. Born in Wilkes Barre, PA, he had lived in Elizabeth and Cranford before moving to Basking Ridge 20 years ago.

 

Frank served in the United States Army during World War II. He attended Rutgers University in Newark. Frank started his career with NJ Bell as a district Accounting Manager. He then worked for AT&T and retired in 1983.

 

After retiring he volunteered as an administrator for the People of Hope Community in Plainfield, NJ. Frank was a leader and member of the community for 41 years. He was also an active parishioner of Our Lady of the Mount Church, Warren.

 

Frank loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Rosemary Helfrich in 2017; his parents Francis and Mary

Helfrich; siblings Anne Duffy, Edward Helfrich and Gerald Helfrich.

 

Survived by his children Thomas Helfrich and his wife Esther, Nancy Miller and her husband John, Fr. Paul Helfrich, Maureen Floyd and her husband Gregory, Mark Helfrich and his wife Theresa, Francis Helfrich and his wife Sara and Jane Gerhardt and her husband Peter; 35 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2019 from 5-8 p.m. at Our Lady of the Mount Church, Warren, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 26, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church followed by interment at St. Mary's Stony Hill Cemetery.
