Obituary of Ralph A. Dowker

Ralph A. Dowker, age 79, died on Monday, February 10, 2014, in Dunellen, NJ. Born in Alberta, Canada he moved to the United States when he was 21 years old. For the last forty years he has resided in both the United States and Ecuador. Ralph served in the United States Army for three and a half years. Prior to retiring he worked as a contractor for local cable companies both in New Jersey and Florida. He also had been a steel worker who helped with construction on the Golden Gate Bridge and several infrastructure projects. For the last twenty years he worked on his land in Ecuador. Ralph was very adventurous and loved to do expeditions for gold and explore the jungles of Ecuador. Surviving is his loving wife of forty-two years Nelly (Brito) Dowker; his son Ralph V. Dowker and his wife Gabriella; his sister Sandra Tansky and her husband Stephen; his brothers Archie, Eddie and Donald Dowker; his sisters Sandra Bohnet, Louisea Harder and Rita Akestron, predeceased by his sister Marion Omilusik; his five grandchildren Tristan, Brandon, Daniel, Madelyn and John. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th, St., Plainfield, NJ 07060. Visitation will also be on Saturday prior to the service from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Cremation is private.
