Obituary of Vincent James Conley
Vincent James Conley, age 82, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ.
Mr. Conley was born in Nutley, NJ, and had resided in Califon for the past 32 years.
Mr. Conley served in the United States Army. He was a proprietor of an Arnold Baker’s wholesalers for many years before his retirement.
He was an avid gardener, landscaper, and golfer. He loved watching Matlock, Andy Griffin, the New York Yankees and Notre Dame football. He enjoyed being family and friends and will be remembered as a kind, thoughtful and generous man to many people. He also enjoyed his homes in Jupiter, FL, Normandy Beach, NJ, and Califon, NJ.
He is predeceased by his wife Igia Comune Conley, his son, Vincent, and his brother, Eddie Joe.
He is survived by his son, Gary Conley, and his significant other, Donna McGrath; his daughters, Lisa Peiffer, and her husband, Scott, and Sherri Leidner, and her significant other, Ken Wark; his step-daughters, Carol, Sandy, Kathy, Tomi, and Julie and their families; his daughter-in-law, Laurie Conley; his former wife, Mary Lou Grombir; his sixteen grandchildren, Sarah, Leigh, Kevin, Kara, Anna, Amy, Anton, Stephanie, Kyllie, Nicole, Dominick, Cara, Sean, Gealyn, Jonica, Timmy; six great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Rosemary Sullivan and Ann Ellen Bardell.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069. A Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, May 9, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Mount Chapel, 167 Mount Bethel Rd., Warren, NJ 07059. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hunterdon Medical Center.
