Obituary of William James Quandt

William James Quandt, Sr. age 73, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at Lyons VA Hospital in Lyons, NJ.  Born in Elizabeth, he had resided in Hillside, Mountainside and Green Brook.

William was a 1964, graduate of Hillside High School.  He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1967.  He worked for Bristol Myers Squibb in Hillside as a Warehouse Foreman before retiring in 2005, after 41 years of employment.

His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren, and attending all of his grandchildren’s sporting events.  In his free time, he enjoyed playing softball and bowling.  He also loved watching the NY Yankees and going to the racetrack.

Survived by his loving wife of 51 years Janet (Saladino) Quandt; children William J. Quandt, Jr. and his wife Dawn and Lisa J. Zipeto and her husband Alessandro; grandchildren Saverio, Alessandro and William Zipeto and Peter, Christian and Austin Quandt; brother Robert W. Quandt.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 4-8 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 31, 2019 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home followed by entombment at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
