Obituary of Catherine A. Ritchie

Catherine A. Ritchie, age 71, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. She was born and raised in the Bronx, NY and lived in Brewster, NY before moving to Watchung 33 years ago in 1985.

She received her Associate degree in Nursing from Bronx Community College in 1967, her Bachelor’s degree from Western Connecticut State University in 1983 and her Master’s Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson in 1993.

Mrs. Ritchie was a Registered Nurse for Holy Redeemer Home Care and Hospice in Elizabeth.

She was a Communicant of St. Mary’s Stony Hill Church.

Mrs. Ritchie loved opera, cooking and vacations but most of all she loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, David Ritchie; her children, Kristen Ritchie and her husband, Saleel Necholy, Erin Carey and her husband, Joshua and Blair Ritchie; her grandchildren, Hunter Carey and Juhi Necholy. She is also survived by her siblings, Joseph, Michael, Maureen, Tara and Peter.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung. Funeral services will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home followed by a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Stony Hill Church. Committal prayers will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge. Cremation will be private. Interment of cremated remains will take place at Ballard Barrett Cemetery in Mahopac, NY.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-998.
