Obituary of Charlotte Spencer Downey

Charlotte Spencer Downey, age 15, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2019, at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital in New York. Born in Morristown, she had resided in Somerville her entire life.

Charlotte attended Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church and especially loved Joyful Noise music class and her friends at Sunday School.

Charlotte loved spending time with her family and enjoyed listening to her father play guitar while sitting on her mother’s lap.  She liked to travel, always asking to go in the car. She loved to have her nails done, read books, cook with her mom, and pet her dogs. She adored her nurses who cared for her and her teachers who loved her.

Survived by her are her loving parents, Michael and Linda, and her brother Corey; Siblings Chaenel, Michael, Marcus and Myles Downey; Grandmothers Ella Gaal and Priscilla Harris and Grandfather Robert Downey, Jr.; her Aunts Cori and her husband Steve Peloso; Gwen Gaal, Sherrie Downey and Juliet Harris; Uncles Peter and his wife Myra Gaal; Samuel and his wife Linda Harris; William Harris and his wife Ivory; David and his wife Gwendolyn Harris; many cousins.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 14, 2019 from 4-8 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Higgins with a joyful Celebration of Life at 11:30 a.m. at the Somerville Elks Lodge, 375 Union Ave. Bridgewater, NJ. The family hopes that everyone who can make that celebration will come, Charlotte loved to have people around her more than anything and would love you all at her party.
