Kenneth D. Gursky

Loving Husband, Attorney, 1948--2019

Kenneth D. Gursky of Basking Ridge, NJ passed suddenly on June 15, 2019, at the age of 70. Ken was born to Joseph Gursky and Dorothy Kelly, both now deceased. He practiced bankruptcy law and later worked in career management. Ken attended Roselle Catholic School and graduated from Seton Hall Law School. He and his wife Janice (nee Halus) met on jury duty and were married for 35 years. 

Ken was a loving husband and thoughtful person. He was generous and was always ready to help anyone in need. Ken was an avid political button collector (APIC member) and a wealthof knowledge about presidential candidates, dating back to our early forefathers. He enjoyed discussing past and present politics. He was a loyal American who loved to celebrate American holidays, and he believed in freedom for all people.

Ken had a dry and witty sense of humor and loved telling jokes, sometimes the same ones over and over. He always carried a copy of the NY Times and the Sunday Book Review for downtime. He was an active and devoted member of Sky Farm (founded in 1932) for 35 years, also acting as their legal counsel, and he and Janice were co-founders of the Sky Farm Historical Society.

Ken is survived by Janice and his cousin Harold F. Fitzpatrick and family, and the Leonard family. Ken was elated to hear of the birth of Cousin Erin Leahy last week, who was the first girl born in the family in 42 years. Ken was really special and will be sadly missed by us
