Obituary of Carol R LaRoche
Carol Roseline La Roche was born on November 29, 1947 along with her twin sister Brenda in Kingston, Georgetown, Guyana to Basil and Doris Prescod. She passed away on August 6, 2019 at Robertwood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick NJ. Carol attended Kingston Methodist School then St. Andrew’s Primary School. She graduated from Chattam High School in 1965.
Carol obtained her nursing assistant certificate in 1973 from Georgetown School of Nursing. After graduating she worked on the pediatric floor for several years. In 1980 she completed her midwifery program. She worked for several years in the ICU and labor and delivery. In 1983 she met and fell in love with a fellow nurse Geoffrey at Georgetown Public Hospital. They were married on November 3, 1984 at Kingston Methodist Church and had their first child Geoffrey, Jr the next day on November 4. They welcomed their second child Reasiemae in 1987.
On October 27, 1993 Carol, her husband, and two children left Guyana to come to America. She resided in Plainfield NJ until her death. During the next several years Carol was a stay at home mother taking care of her children and household. Carol was a caring mother who showered her children with love and encouragement. She always put their wants before her own needs. Carol was always thriving to increase her education. She attended classes at the Plainfield Adult High School and obtained her US GED. Shortly after Carol took classes to become a certified nursing assistant. She began working at JFK Hartwyck in Plainfield in 2006 and remained there until she became ill.
Carol enjoyed her yearly trips to Guyana to visit her sister, nephew and many friends. During her visits to Guyana, Carol would hand out school supplies and feed the school children of Kingston Methodist School. In her free time Carol enjoyed reading her daily Bible lessons, doing her word searches, playing Candy Crush on her kindle, and skyping her sister Fay.
Carol was predeceased in death by her parents Basil and Doris Prescod. Her aunts Hyacinth, Phyllis, and Negla. Her brother Bertram and her twin sister Brenda. Carol leaves to mourn her husband Geoffrey, son; Geoffrey, Jr., daughter; Reasiemae, sister; Fay, nephews; Triston and Michael, cousins; Pamela, Johnathan, and Christobel, church friends of SOVUMC, and many other friends. Carol will be missed and loved by them all.
