Mary Jane and I worked together at Hewitt. She was a dedicated, brilliant, and committed educator. Her focus was always on the student as a learner - whatever a student needed in order to become confident and successful, Mary Jane made it happen. If that meant a student needed private in-school math classes, then that was what was provided. Teachers were supported and given a myriad of opportunities to hone their craft through workshops and classes. The push-in leaning specialist program she established at Hewitt was invaluable - unfortunately for both teachers and students it was discontinued when she left. In addition to her excellence as an educational leader, Mary Jane was a kind and generous person. It was an honor to teach under her leadership. She was a mentor and friend and will be greatly missed.

Good bye Mary Jane, my american mum.
You’ve been so important to me I’ll never forget you...
I admired the mother you were with your kids... I admired the bright woman you were...Recently you and me were trying to figure how to arrange a visit to debate about our lifes, our countries, our memories....sorry, but we will have to wait later....I’ve so many wonderful souvenirs of your family when I spent one year with you in Wellesley hills (sept.1972-sept.1973). At the end of that year I didn’t want to turn back to France but I had to as it was the only way for me to go to University and it was a first heartbreak to leave you ...You had adopted me and I had adopted you...
Today it is another heartbreak for all your beloved ....But I know you would hate to hear us complaining...and I’m happy because I already found you shining in my sky : nice little Irish star glancing at me ❤️⭐️❤️

It is with great sadness that we offer our condolences. Mary Jane was one of the most dynamic charming woman we have known.
She transformed Hewitt, our daughters school, into a modern school. Just a note: Every morning she would stand in front of the school greeting the students by name and always with a smile.
She has always held a special place in our family not just for her wisdom but her sense of fun.
Very fondly,
Nancy, Mitch and Kirsten Berken

Please know that we were a friend to her through my Uncle Jim. She was a great personality to know. We have great respect for her.
Recently, my son had a double lung transplant. She was always kind and supportive. What an asset to the world. She was an inspiration to all women. I know heaven received a true angel. God Bless her!!
