Muriel LaGreca

Obituary of Muriel G. LaGreca

Muriel Reichers LaGreca, age 97, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, August 26, 2019, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Basking Ridge. Born in Brooklyn, she had lived in Scotch Plains and Bridgewater before moving to Sunrise this past November.

Mrs. LaGreca was a homemaker and had worked as a secretary in New York City. Opera was her passion, a music form she discovered when by chance she came across a Saturday Metropolitan Opera radio performance of Bizet's Carmen. At the conclusion of that performance, to her delight and surprise, the announcer gave a brief description of the next week's opera. She could hardly believe how lucky she would be to hear this music again. She frequently attended opera performances and was a loyal Saturday listener throughout her life.

Travel, travel photography, and creating video recordings of her family and family events were also keen interests. She kept up with current events and politics until late in life.

She is survived by her children: Linda LaGreca Kimler and her husband Stephen of Chatham; Joseph Paul LaGreca and his wife Irene of Green Brook; and John LaGreca of North Plainfield. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Eric Kimler and his wife Alina; Matthew Kimler and his wife Melissa; Jason LaGreca and his wife Heidi; Kevin LaGreca and his wife Lauren; Adam LaGreca and Dylan LaGreca. She will also be missed by her six great-grandchildren: Kyle, Rain, Anthony, Lucas, Jameson and Liliana as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mrs. LaGreca was predeceased by her husband, Anthony O. LaGreca. They were married for 67 years at the time of his passing. She was also pre-deceased by her siblings, Mildred Reichers and Frederick Reichers.
