Obituary of Paul B. Babik

Paul B. Babik, age 72, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2019, at Hackensack Medical Center in Hackensack. Born in Elizabeth, he was raised in Colonia, and had lived in Watchung since 1982. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Gita (Dharan); son Michael & his wife Allison (Gannon); daughter, Pamela, and sister, Charlotte Dennis. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Hailey and Eva, who he adored. He is predeceased by his father, John Babik, mother, Dorothy, and brother, John Jr. Paul graduated in 1969, from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio. Trained as a CPA, he had a career in public accounting and real estate development in New York City before starting his own business in Westfield in 1993. In his later years, he served as a corporate financial consultant for a variety of organizations. A lifelong collector, Paul was specifically interested in world stamps, model trains, and trading cards. He also loved sports history & memorabilia and had been a loyal Mets fan since 1962. He loved many types of music, especially folk and enjoyed spending time with his family on Nantucket Island. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 from 4-8 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A gathering will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 9 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Stony Hill Church, Watchung. Entombment will follow at St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia.
