Stephen Sisolak

Obituary of Stephen J Sisolak

On October 18, Stephen Joseph "Steve" Sisolak, age 86, died peacefully surrounded by loved ones.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Liebhart Sisolak (Bridgewater, NJ); his five children, Edward Sisolak (spouse Luz Maria Angelitud Sisolak, children Joshua, Sarah, Jacob); Daniel Sisolak (spouse Sonia Gutierrez-Sisolak, children Stephen, Aiden, Tristan); Carl Sisolak (Alexian Brothers); Joy Sisolak Lizarraga (spouse Daniel Lizarraga, children Sofia, Veronica, Eva, Carmen); Joel Sisolak (spouse Julie Watts, child Zula Rose). He is welcomed to heaven by his parents, Elizabeth Solar and Stephen Sisolak Sr., siblings Joseph, Michael, Mary, Helen, and Paul, and a rowdy host of extended family, friends and fans.

Steve was born on February 1, 1933 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. Following service in the US Navy, he married Kathleen “Kathie” Liebhart on December 26, 1959. Steve had a career in the sheet metal trade before working at Allied Signal Corporation (Honeywell), an American aerospace, automotive and engineering company headquartered in Morristown, New Jersey. Between 1963 and 1970, Steve and Kathie welcomed five children into their lives and together raised them to love each other and God. Steve’s children remember their dad as a strong, faithful and loving husband and father with a quiet sense of humor and beautiful tenor singing voice.

Steve was a devout Roman Catholic and long-time member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Bridgewater Township, New Jersey. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and loved to sing with the church choir. When not found in the parish kitchen preparing food for a church function, Steve loved to work with his hands in his downstairs workshop or tinker with old Volkswagens in the garage. He was gifted at fixing just about anything and had many active projects to occupy both his imagination and space in the basement.
