Obituary of Joanne Vogt
Joanne Vogt (nee Bouffard) died on December 14, 2019 from complications related to a long fight with scleroderma.
Joanne was born on September 27, 1951 in Flushing, NY and was the youngest of Joseph and Marie Bouffard’s five children. She was a Jersey girl at heart who grew up in Glen Rock, NJ and graduated from Paramus Catholic High School in 1969. She then went on to graduate with honors from the University of Dayton with a Bachelor’s degree in English and Psychology in 1973. Joanne also spent several years living in New York City. In addition, she loved visiting the family cabin in New Hampshire every summer and was an avid New York Giants fan.
Joanne married Richard Vogt on August 2, 1986. They were married for 33 years. In 1987, they moved to Plainfield, NJ where they lived together for 32 years. On July 27, 1989 Joanne gave birth to their son William.
Joanne was a woman full of energy, organization, and determination. This is clearly reflected by her vibrant and varied professional life which included two separate and equally successful careers. She was an experienced television executive. Her time in this field included stints at CBS and Showtime, where she was one of the first female vice presidents at Showtime Networks. In her second career, she was the Director of the Annual Fund at the Wardlaw-Hartridge School in Edison, NJ. In this role, her skill and perseverance led to successful fundraising efforts and her presence brightened up and improved the environment of the entire school.
Joanne was also a woman of strong Catholic faith and had a commitment to service. She was a passionate volunteer religious educator and was a great mentor to many students. In addition, she was a constant presence at her parish – St. Bernard’s and St. Stanislaus in Plainfield, NJ – and attended mass every week when she was not ill. She also volunteered her time as an officer of the Watchung Book Club.
Joanne is survived by her husband Richard Vogt, her son William Vogt, her daughter-in-law Megan Buchheit, and a large family of loving relatives. She is predeceased by her parents Joseph Bouffard and Marie Bouffard (nee Berry) and her siblings Edward Bouffard, Eileen Smith, Dr. Thomas Bouffard, and Msgr. James Bouffard.
A visitation will be on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ from 4pm-8pm.Funeral services will begin on Friday, December 20,2019 at 8:30 am at the funeral home followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass at St. Bernard’s and St. Stanislaus Church, 1235 George St., Plainfield, NJ.
