Obituary of Victoriano Alvarez
Victoriano Alvarez, age 81, passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at CareOne at Somerset Valley in Bound Brook NJ. He was born and raised in Zacos, Spain, and lived there for the first 32 years of his life before immigrating to the United States in 1972. He has resided in Basking Ridge, NJ since 1987.
Victoriano worked as a baker at Anthony & Sons Italian Bakery in Fairfield, NJ for 25 years.
Victoriano was an avid gardener and loved growing his own vegetables. He went on early morning walks, visited the Bernards Township Senior Center daily to commune with his peers, and he enjoyed dancing and music as well. Every summer, Victoriano traveled to Spain to visit his family, who he loved dearly. He also loved to watch his favorite soccer team, Real Madrid.
Victoriano is pre-deceased by his wife, Maria Nely Alvarez.
He is survived by his daughters, Maria (Kevin Keller) Alvarez, Marisol (Matthew) Ziegler; three grandchildren, Alexander, Peter and Thomas; and three siblings, Tomas, Angelina, and Celia. He is also survived by his longtime special companion Francesca White.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung, NJ, from 2:00 to 6:00 pm. Funeral services will begin Monday, January 6, at 10 am at St, James RC Church in Basking Ridge, NJ. Entombment will follow.
