Obituary of Angela P. Ferris

Angela “Pat” Ferris peacefully passed away at her home of 51 years in Watchung, NJ on January 29, 2020. Pat was ageless and lived life to its fullest. She was born to Italian immigrant parents Carmine Marinelli and Enrica Alimonti in Garwood, NJ on March 30th. Pat was pre-deceased by her eight siblings: Bett, Perry, Mary, Terry, Hank, Anne, Catherine, and Doris. Their cozy home was always filled with lots of people of all generations. A fond story Pat liked to share from her younger years was when she took a roundtrip cross country road trip in 1951 with her sisters Doris and Catherine. The ladies would often recount that adventurous experience throughout their lives. Pat had an active career. She began working as a switchboard operator with her sisters then held a position with Thatcher Furnace in Garwood and Lockheed in Plainfield. Pat also loved working in New York City at McCall’s Magazine and in the advertising world. True to her Italian heritage Pat loved cooking, gardening, entertaining family and friends. Her Thanksgiving gatherings were blessings to all whom had the good fortune to attend. She resided in Garwood, Bound Brook and ultimately settled in Watchung. Pat married the love of her life, the late husband William A. Ferris. Together they built a happy life filled with 25 nieces and nephews, travelling the world, and planting deep roots in the community. She was active in the Garden Club of Watchung and St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Pat will be remembered for her loving smile and gracious spirit and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 7, 2020 at 10am at St. Mary’s Stony Hill Church in Watchung, NJ. Entombment will follow.
