My deepest condolences to Sandy's family. I had the pleasure of working with Sandy at Warren Middle School and through her I learned what it was to be a true teacher and to find reward in the art of teaching; what she gave me was a priceless gift that I could share with others through my own teaching. She was a mentor -- the best one could possibly have had. Firm but fair, she had a loving heart that endeared her to her students. Students entered and left her classroom knowing she cared deeply about them.
Funny and witty, she was a born leader who could enliven the most mundane staff meetings with her presence and stories. Her spirit continues to live in the minds and hearts of all those she touched through her teaching and friendship. The teachers she worked with and touched continue her work through their own teaching. Though I lost touch with Sandy after her retirement, she has remained close in my heart and in my thoughts, and will continue to be as long as I live.
Rest in peace, Sandy, your spirit lives on.
