Obituary of Saleem Boghdan

Saleem “Sam” Boghdan, age 94, passed away peacefully after a long illness with Multiple Sclerosis on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at John F Kennedy Medical Center/Yelencsics Community Hospital. Sam was born in Plainfield, NJ to parents Kalil and Asma Boghdan and was raised in North Plainfield, NJ. Sam served in the United States Army during World War Two as a Tank Commander under the leadership of General George Patton. After his service, Sam graduated from Seton Hall University, class of 1950, with a bachelor’s in economics. He worked for many years in the private sector before retiring to North Plainfield in 1973. Sam was an active member of the Grace Episcopal Church, the Jerusalem Masonic Lodge in Plainfield, as well as numerous other community organizations. Before becoming stricken with Multiple Sclerosis, he was an avid outdoorsman. Sam is predeceased by his Sister, Shamsay Boghdan Habeeb of North Plainfield, and his Brother George Boghdan of Piscataway. He is survived by his brother, Kalil Boghdan of Hamilton, Massachusetts, as well as many nephews, nieces, and grand nephews and nieces. A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd, Watchung NJ, from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m., followed by Military Honors and a Masonic Service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 9 at 10:00 a.m. at the Grace Episcopal Church, 600 Cleveland Ave, Plainfield NJ 07060. A private cremation will follow; burial of cremated remains will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Donations can be made to Grace Episcopal Church in Plainfield, 600 Cleveland Ave, Plainfield NJ 07060.
