Obituary of Zachary Schmitt

Zachary Schmitt, age 32, passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2020, at his home in Branchburg. Born in Morristown, he grew up in Basking Ridge before moving to Branchburg. Zachary was a graduate of Ridge High School in Basking Ridge. Most recently Zachary was a mechanic with Landscape Materials, Inc. in Hillsborough. Prior to that he worked for most of his career as a mason at Albertson Masonry in Basking Ridge. In his free time, he enjoyed collecting hot wheel cars, fishing, punk rock music and concerts. He was a tattoo apprentice at Heartbeat Ink in Bound Brook. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. Survived by his parents Thomas and Alicia (Blom) Schmitt; siblings Thomas Schmitt, Jr. Hanna Schmitt and Emily Schmitt; grandparents Loretta Schmitt and Robert and Johanna Blom; aunts and uncles Melissa Schmitt, Steve and Lisa Schmitt, Eilene Schmitt, Patricia and Scott Albertson, Joseph and Elizabeth Dolak. He is also survived by many cousins, extended family and dear friends. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2020 from 4-9 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A funeral gathering will be held Friday, March 13, 2020 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. St. James RC Church, Basking Ridge, NJ Memorial donations in his name may be made to: donations@michaeljfox.org.
