Some of the best times I had were spent in the company of the Jayne family. I worked for Hall’s Motor Freight for a period of time. Mr. Jayne ( as I referred to him) was a decent and fair employer as well as a friendly and personable guy. My thoughts are with the family at this time.

Our love and deepest sympathy to the Jayne family! We have many beautiful memories of this wonderful man. He was always so kind and interesting. He had a very positive attitude, love of family and country. He left an incredible legacy! As a young girl, I had the pleasure of playing on a softball team that he sponsored. He loved to talk about Warren Twp. and always had fond things to say about raising his family there. My late husband and I enjoyed many a meal with him and the conversation was always so interesting and fun! We enjoyed many beautiful sunsets on the "Lady Jayne", with him. My children all grew up knowing him and having the pleasure of his company at many social events. He will be missed, but he leaves behind many who loved him that have great memories to cherish! Rest in Peace. Love to all!

I have known Bill for probably 15 years, from the Iwo Jima veteran reunions in DC. He was at the initial one I attended & at most of them over the years. He shared some stories, photos of himself from WW 2 with me & I also got to know his family as well. We were able to keep in touch via email & social media & he always had a great sense of humor.
"Swabbie" was a good friend & i'm glad I got to see him at this years reunion in DC. He told me that in WW 2 sailors were referred to as Swabbies, so that was our greeting whenever I'd see him. H enjoyed life & his family, you can see that in the video tribute.
You will be missed my friend, but the legacy of your service,&valor as one of the Greatest Generation will be remembered & revered by generations of your family to come

Trudi and I wish to extend our deepest condolences to the extended Jayne family. We were lucky to have been able to spend a significant amount of time with Pop over the years and will miss the knowledge and experience he always brought to the table. It has been our privilege to have known such a remarkable man. Pop was a member of the greatest generation, and a proud Navy war hero. In the words of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy.“I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction: ‘I served in the United States Navy." I think Pop would agree. Rest in Peace my friend and thank you for making the world a better place for us to live in.
