Obituary of Alfred George Hoerrner
Alfred George Hoerrner, age 86, died on Thursday, March 13th, 2014, at The Chelsea in Warren. Born and raised in Linden, he had resided in Scotch Plains, Riverside, PA and Warren before moving to Lakewood. Alfred also enjoyed spending time at his home in St. Petersburg, FL.
Alfred received his degree in Chemical Engineering from Brooklyn Polytechnic, Brooklyn, NY. He worked as a chemical engineer with Merck in Rahway and Danville, PA for thirty-seven years retiring in 1987, as Vice President in the Manufacturing Division. Alfred was a member of ASPEC a group of senior professionals at Eckerd College in Florida. In his spare time he enjoyed playing golf and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Predeceased by his wife Mary Jane (Einhorn) Hoerrner in 2010.
Surviving are his sons Scott and his wife Lori and Mark and his wife Karen; six grandchildren Megan, Sara, Christopher, Ingrid, Caroline and Philip.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 15th, 2014, at 9:30 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church in Scotch Plains. Entombment will follow at St. Mary's Stony Hill Cemetery, Watchung. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-8 p.m.
